As a district, Muhlenberg County Schools is highlighting the five competencies of the Profile of a Learner each month beginning in October. Those competencies are Engaged Citizen, Effective Collaborator, Creative Problem-Solver, Skilled Communicator, and Empowered Learner. As one way of recognizing the competencies, the Board of Education will award an individual each month who represents the definition of that competency.
The first competency being highlighted for October is Engaged Citizen. This individual adds value to the community and purposefully pursues opportunities to make a positive impact. This individual understands and respects diverse perspectives and cultures. She seeks to understand local, national, and world issues. She understands the difference between rights, privileges, and responsibilities. This individual acts responsibly and evaluates the impact of her interaction with others along with actively engaging in the school community.
Miss Lillian Darr is a perfect example of an Engaged Citizen. Lilly is a junior at Muhlenberg County High School and is a member of the Lady Mustangs Soccer team that recently won the district championship. She is a young entrepreneur owning a beef operation known as Cattle on a Thousand Hills and is active in FFA. Lilly is the daughter of Todd and Cindy Darr. Congratulations, Lilly, for being a wonderful example of a productive and successful citizen.
