In an effort to keep the community informed of great things happening within our school district, look for a weekly school/department write-up to be shared. This week's highlight comes from Central City Elementary...
The 2023-2024 school year is off to a galloping start at Central City Elementary. The Golden Tide are primed for another phenomenal year as our school-wide theme is “saddle up for suCCES”; because you can’t spell success without CCES. Our school is also excited to implement the Muhlenberg County School District’s Profile of a Learner initiative for students throughout the school year. We are eager to unveil our new focal wall on one of our middle halls to enhance this endeavor. Students will be recognized for various achievements (academic, personal-social, creativity, citizenship, problem solving, etc.). These recognitions will show how student achievement is aligned with the Profile of a Learner’s five competencies, as well as student suCCES.
Furthermore, our school was able to improve the appearance of our grounds by updating landscaping. CCES received a $4,000 grant, courtesy of the Felix H. Martin Foundation to spend toward the beautification of our school’s exterior. In addition, the following local businesses kindly donated additional funding: Farmer’s Bank and Trust, Brewco, Sunshine Garden Center/Precision Lawn & Landscape, Gary Carver State Farm, and Tucker Funeral Home. Thanks to their generosity, the Golden Tide will continue to be the Pride of Central City.
