Muhlenberg Achieves hosted their first in a series of “Lunch and Learn” sessions for interested seniors. Today’s guest, Mr. Anthony Yates, General Manager of American Consolidated Natural Resources, Inc., shared about the coal mining industry and local opportunities available.

6th graders from across the district enjoyed a wonderful Ag Day today hosted by the Muhlenberg County Farm Bureau. A special thank you to the Extension Office and 4-H along with the 16 exhibitors who shared Ag information with all of our students.

A new work has begun across the district in creating and supporting learner-centered instructional environments. Recent meetings and trainings looked at students, families, and community feedback regarding students’ learning experiences and skills students need to be successful.

As we enter the month of giving, Muhlenberg County Schools will be collecting new coats, new gloves, new hats, and new hoodies for students who were affected by the Eastern Kentucky floods. At the 5th - 8th grade Red Ribbon Rally, SRO Wes Miller demonstrated how Von, canine police dog, doesn't like people doing drugs. MSMS Principal Gish hesitantly volunteered for the demonstration. Thank you to all of our local police officers for the work they do every day!

Tomorrow is officially Red Ribbon Rally Day for all 5th - 12th grade students across the district. Help us take a STAND against drugs by wearing RED. Let’s all “Celebrate Life. Live Drug Free!”

Members of the National Honor Society sponsored a book drive for Eastern Kentucky students. The trailer full of over 5000 books were delivered today. Thank you to all across the school district who donated!

Students, staff and families of Longest Elementary enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon at their fall festival. From bouncy slides and fun games to concessions and math activities, the rain didn’t stop the fun!

The officers of STAND presented at the Greater Muhlenberg Chamber Meeting today. President Madison Morris shared the mission of STAND. Vice President Jes Robison shared the club’s theme and monthly topics. Secretary Abigail Skaggs shared information on Red Ribbon Rally.

Muhlenberg Achieves sponsored their 2nd annual College Expo at the Sue & Brown Badgett Center this afternoon. There were a variety of colleges and universities set up to share information with interested students and families.

Muhlenberg South Elementary held a paint party for students at last night’s family event. Students painted pieces that went along with the school’s “cruise” theme this year. Families took home the piece they chose to paint along with a snack.

Greenville Elementary recognized first responders this morning as a way to kick off Kentucky Schools Safety Week!

Muhlenberg South Middle’s dodgeball tournament has been a HIT with students today!

All Muhlenberg County Schools will be closed next week.

Central City Elementary held a school assembly this morning where they recognized exceptional students. There was a special performance by the Golden Girls Dance Team.

Ms. Beadnell at Central City Elementary offered her students a book bistro today complete with placemats, menus, and soft background music while rotating spots in order to finish a “meal” of reading. Students loved it!
